VOICE OVER ARTIST: J. LALONDE
There’s an ever-growing marketplace for voices of all kinds on many different types of projects. Gaming is one of the largest growing spaces. If you can get the work, you’re lucky.
Peter Dinklage is learning it’s not as easy as one might think. The reviews of his work on the game, Destiny are in and they’re rough. The Huffington Post is calling it Unbearable and fans took to the message boards to tear it to shreds.
This goes to show that preparation, well-written scripts, direction and a clear vision of what you’re trying to portray is just as important as the voice work.
I think Peter Dinklage has a sensational voice, I hope he’s able to fix this for the sake of his pride and gamers enjoyment.
This was a great article in the Village Voice about the hustle of voice over.
Many don’t understand the business. It can be grueling.
Hard to believe considering you just read scripts and deliver them into a mic, but the pace of NYC adds an entirely different element that frequently washes great voices out of the business.
